Whistleblower Trial Commences For Former Colton Police Chief

HSRR Partner Dan Stormer gave his opening statement this week in a trial involving former Colton Police Chief Ken Rulon. Rulon alleges that he was wrongfully fired and defamed for reporting suspected corruption involving multiple Colton city officials.

Dan Stormer said during his opening statement that Rulon was a standout leader with a vigor and enthusiasm that dazzled City Manager Daryl Parrish and led to glowing reviews, awards, and accolades.

It was Parrish’s failure to address ongoing unlawful activities involving city officials that led to Rulon reporting the matter to the District Attorney’s Office. Parrish’s opinion of Rulon suddenly changed after that, Stormer said.

“That was essentially the end of Mr. Rulon’s career.”
