On April 28, 2026, HSRD attorneys Randy Renick and Cornelia Dai and attorney Warren Binder of the Binder Law Group filed a lawsuit against Planet Fitness Franchising LLC, Flynn Group, and GFP Arroyo Grande, LLC for failing to prevent a member’s secret recording of plaintiff Jane Doe while she stood unclothed in a tanning booth at the Arroyo Grande Planet Fitness on December 29, 2025. A subsequent police investigation revealed that this was not an isolated incident as the perpetrator had secretly recorded almost 50 other female members unclothed while using the gym’s tanning booths over a 12-month period. Planet Fitness employees were in the immediate vicinity and witnessed the perpetrator's suspicious behavior on numerous of these occasions, yet failed to intervene, warn members, or take corrective action.
