Dani Gies joined Hadsell Stormer Renick & Dai LLP in May 2025. She represents union workers of UNITE HERE Local 11 in family‑based immigration matters through the Legal Fund of Hotel and Restaurant Employees of Los Angeles.
Previously, Ms. Gies was an attorney at Immigrant Defenders Law Center, representing noncitizen clients to vacate their convictions in California criminal courts and representing all ages of clients in removal defense practice. Before that, she served in the USDOJ Attorney General’s Honors Program as an Attorney Advisor at the Los Angeles Immigration Court.
Ms. Gies graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law with a specialization in Public Interest Law and Policy. During law school, she: co‑founded and co‑directed Law Students for Immigrant Justice; was a member of the Chancellor’s Advisory Council on Immigration Policy as a graduate researcher at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment; was an Editor on the Chicano/a – Latino/a Law Review and National Black Law Journal; held leadership positions in Mock Trial, the Black Law Student Association, and La Raza; externed at Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition (now Amica Center for Immigrant Rights) in Washington, D.C.; and danced with NSU Modern, a competitive hip‑hop dance team. Ms. Gies received her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame cum laude with majors in Sociology (Honors) and Spanish and a minor in Poverty Studies.
